A Bold Design Built to Last

The house is supported by concrete spread footings, and foundation walls at the basement level, upper floors are to be supported with steel columns and girders. The floor structure comprises concrete slab on metal deck and steel beams at the garage and wood joists with plywood deck at all other locations. Steel x-braces and moment frames are used to laterally stabilize the structure. The house is built perched on a cliff which required a complex foundation system comprised of many levels to bear on the bedrock.

A Long and Linear Pool

The 2,210-square-foot lap pool is located above a steep grade overlooking the Hudson River. Its concrete shell is integral with the stepped foundation which provides the building’s anchorage to the steep slope as well as the lateral stability of the building.
