2010

This project involved the structural design of a free standing brick wall. The wall was designed by artist Dan Colen, and featured in the Poetry Exhibition at the New York Gagosian Gallery in 2010. DRPILLA was asked to design the structural components required to build the brick wall and provide structural analysis and construction documents that were used to build the wall in a manner in which it could be easily disassembled, shipped and reassembled at different galleries.

A Towering Work of Art

Steel and concrete make up this 50,000-pound brick wall which stands 13 feet tall, 23 feet long and over eight feet thick. The piece is titled “And She Smiled Sweetly.” The creation was inspired by a photograph of kids playing basketball in front of a graffiti wall.
