New York, NY
Architectural and Structural Design
This project involves a proposed two-story addition, plus partial third floor elevator bulkhead of a seven story, New York City landmarked building. The addition will preserve and restore the front historic, 1922 façade in the neo-federal style. The entire building is being demolished and reconstructed to form a nine-story building. The top two floors are being set back from the front of the building. The new construction will consist of steel and concrete floors with masonry shear wall construction. The rear façade of the building will be reconfigured to accommodate new balconies and terraces. In addition to the design work, DRPILLA has been influential in the coordination with local community boards and the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
