DRPILLA is providing structural design services for a new two story, waterfront, approximately 14,500 square foot main house with basement and elevated concrete driveway, as well as a two story 4,000 square foot guest house. The construction of the main house is to consist of concrete slab supported on metal deck and steel beams at the ground floor, steel beams with wood infill joists at the second floor, and steel beams with open web joists to accommodate HVAC and lighting at the roof level. Moment frames and X-braces are to be used to provide lateral stability for the building. The foundation for the building is to consist of concrete grade beams and timber piles. All walls below the ground floor level will be breakaway walls.
