An existing (3) three story landmark building located under the Brooklyn Bridge was rebuilt to accommodate a new (6) six story 40,000 SF residential building with retail and parking space at street level. The front façade was rebuilt in the likeness of the existing building to include existing cast-iron period columns. The upper floors were set back from the street as to not compromise the esthetic view of the landmark portion of the building. The building is founded on deep foundations (steel piles, reinforced concrete pile caps and grade beams). The building’s structure is a steel moment frame building with composite floor construction.
