Project Description

DRPILLA provided structural and building envelope rehabilitation, as well as comprehensive energy analysis for the repair and remediation of a total of 61 buildings containing 1,085 units within the 1,100-unit apartment complex. Originally built in the 1960’s, the apartment buildings are two-story, wood-framed structures with multiple apartments per building. Due to the magnitude of the project, work was completed in two phases. We provided a comprehensive evaluation of the buildings’ attics and facades to determine the most cost-effective and efficient design approach for repairs.

NYSERDA Energy Analysis + Targets Achieved

DRPILLA conducted a comprehensive energy-use analysis to investigate opportunities for energy efficient improvements, develop an energy reduction plan, and determine available NYSERDA incentives for energy efficient design and implementation. Measures for energy savings included air sealing at roof and facades, replaced and increased insulation, boiler replacements, change to LED lighting, low flow devices and rated appliances. An energy reduction target of 22 percent was achieved for this project upon completion of construction. It is anticipated that the project will achieve its estimated target for the first year commissioning in the Spring of 2019.
