Project Description
DRPILLA provided the structural design and analysis for the installation of a sculpture at a private residence in Westchester. Our investigation determined the boring capacity of the soil in order to design the appropriate foundations required. The foundation consisted of four concrete piers located under each corner of the sculpture legs.

The Steel Woman
The sculpture is part of Thomas Schütte’s Frauen series which examines the complex relationship between the male gaze and depiction of the female nude by introducing contradictions. The women are staged on platforms as victims of the attitudes of a male dominated past, yet simultaneously maintain a striking presence in scale, commanding respect from their audience.
