Project Description

“The goal of the project was to create a legacy house respectful to the context in which it was originally built, but would also serve as a comfortable, fun, family destination for generations to come.”

This project features a 7,000-square-foot waterfront Victorian residence which was completely reoriented for modern living while remaining respectful to the original context in which it was built in 1880. DRPILLA provided comprehensive structural and civil design from preliminary approval to project completion.

A Down-to-the-Studs Renovation

The house construction consists of wood framing with clapboard siding and stone veneer. The foundation of the existing house was replaced while the existing building was elevated and supported by temporary shoring frames. During the renovation, the house’s orientation was flipped; its formal entry now faces the vehicular approach and pool, while the turreted porch is now extended to wrap around the house embracing views of the bay.

Included in our scope of work was the evaluation of the 1.17-acre site for pre-development and post-development runoff. In turn, a complete drainage analysis and site plan was developed.
