Project Description

DRPILLA provided structural engineering design for a new four-story, three-unit boutique condominium building in Carroll Gardens. The client’s goals prioritized mindful design and local materials so that the building’s aesthetic and structure made a bold statement, while remaining respectful to the townhouse fabric of the area. The condominiums consist of a duplex eco-penthouse, a two-bedroom floor-through, and a garden duplex. While the units share the same palette of distinctive design elements, each unit maintains its own unique personality. At the front façade, stainless steel window screens provide a degree of privacy and sun shading. The building seeks to enhance and engage the occupants’ connection to the environment; a solar array at the roof powers the eco penthouse, and the garden duplex has a backyard landscaped with perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees reminiscent of nearby Brooklyn Bridge Park.
